The best part of writing this book? The stories and messages received from RSGWAA readers! THIS is Asher’s story …
Nothing is impossible. The word itself says “I’m possible!” (Audrey Hepburn)
On Thursday May 3rd, 2018 I learned of an amazing young man who is both brave and inspirational with his determination to make a difference. Asher was about to have a third (and hopefully final) surgery on his hip on Monday, May 7th at the Stollery Children’s Hospital.
Asher received a copy of Red Socks Go With Absolutely Anything from his wonderful Auntie Penny and has taken the phrase of “I feel strong. I am ready. I can do anything.” as a personal mantra. The story didn’t stop there … he was challenged by an anonymous supporter to collect 1000 photos of people showing their support for Asher by wearing red socks. Once the challenge was completed this generous person would donate $5 per person supporting Asher up to $5,000 to the Stollery Children’s Hospital.
We all put on our brightest pair of red socks, lifted those pant legs and snapped a photo! The #redsocksforasher! campaign raised $10,000 for the Stollery Children’s Hospital!
